Nothing Is Wasted: Trusting God to Use Every Part of Your Story

When Life Doesn’t Look Like the Plan

You made the plans. You prayed the prayers. You even took the faithful steps.

So why does it feel like everything is unraveling?

If you’re sitting in a season where life looks nothing like what you pictured—you're not alone.

We’ve been there. In fact, we've lived there.

There was a time we thought we were “set”—real estate investments, passive income, a vision for a beautiful future. Then came the collapse.

Our finances fell apart. Our home disappeared. Our plan crumbled.

And it wasn’t just a one-time setback—it was a full unraveling.

We ended up newly married and sleeping in a hotel, holding our last $72 and wondering how to buy groceries.

It was humbling. Painful. Confusing.

But now, looking back, we know this truth:

Nothing in the Kingdom of God is ever wasted.

The Hidden Purpose in the Messy Middle

Maybe you're in the middle of your own “Why is this happening?” season right now.

If so, here’s what we want you to hear:

That hard thing you’re walking through? God can use it.

That detour that feels like a delay? God can use that too.

Even the closed doors, the painful moments, the confusing jobs, and the prayers that seem unanswered—all of it is part of the preparation.

We say this often on our podcast because we’ve lived it:

“We didn’t understand it then. But now, we can clearly see—if that hadn’t happened, we wouldn’t be here now.”

That’s the power found in the truth of Romans 8:28. God works all things together for good—yes, even the hard things.

What to Remember When It Doesn’t Make Sense

If you're walking through a season that feels random, painful, or just plain disappointing—here’s what we’ve learned the hard way:

1. God sees what you don’t

He’s not just focused on this moment—He’s preparing you for what’s next. That job you didn’t get?

That move that didn’t work out? That unexpected setback? They may be part of something far greater than you realize.

2. Your obedience is never wasted

Even when the outcome doesn’t match the effort, obedience builds trust. And trust builds legacy.

Keep showing up—especially when it doesn’t make sense.

3. The detour might be the very road that leads you home

Sometimes what looks like a delay is actually divine direction. Let go of needing it to make sense.

God is writing a bigger story.
