Before Multiplication, God Must Rebuild the Foundation

Looking Back to Step Forward

As we step into 2026, it’s natural to reflect on the year that was. For us, 2025 was a year full of challenges, growth, and preparation. Sometimes preparation isn’t easy; it’s often painful, humbling, and requires hard work, but it’s always purposeful.

In Episode 16 of Mandate to Multiply, “Before Multiplication, God Must Rebuild the Foundation,” we get into the lessons, reflections, and breakthroughs from last year, and share how they’re shaping our faith, family, and focus for the year ahead.

The Year of Preparation

2025 wasn’t just another year, but it was a year of building, strengthening, and recalibrating. We learned that God often works behind the scenes, quietly preparing us for the promises ahead.

Some key themes from our year of preparation included:

Strength in the Lord – Learning to rely fully on Him, not on the approval of others.

Family Foundations – Reassessing our priorities, resetting our family culture, and ensuring our home reflects the values we want to instill in our children.

Intentional Parenting – Realizing the short window we have with our kids and taking deliberate steps to equip them for the future.

Rest and Trust – Understanding that true rest is not laziness but surrender and trust in God’s timing.

Each of these lessons required reflection, hard conversations, and sometimes painful adjustments, but they were essential for the growth we want to see in 2026.

Parenting: More Than Just a Role

Parenting doesn’t come with a manual, and as we’ve learned over the years, raising boys in today’s world requires intentionality, resources, and humility.

We talk about the importance of:

Starting early with education and tools – Reading, courses, and coaching helped us gain skills we didn’t naturally have.

Being proactive, not reactive – Preparing our children for life outside the “bubble” of home and homeschooling.

Modeling marriage and love – Ensuring that our relationship as husband and wife is strong so our children can see what a healthy family looks like.

Parenting is a marathon; it is not a sprint. What you do now: how you teach, guide, and model values, has a lasting impact on the men your boys will become.

Foundations, Faith, and Family

One of the biggest realizations we had in 2025 was the importance of solid foundations. Just like the story of Jabez in the Bible, we prayed not only for protection but for strong, unshakable foundations.

This meant examining every area of our life:

Marriage – Are we prioritizing each other above all else?

Family – Is the culture in our home aligning with the vision we have for the next 10–15 years?

Faith – Are we resting in God’s timing, trusting His plans, and leaning on Him fully?

By addressing these areas head-on, we could remove cracks, fill gaps, and ensure our foundation is strong enough to support the blessings and promises God has for us.

Rest Isn’t Optional

Another lesson 2025 reinforced for us is that rest is not a luxury, but it’s a spiritual discipline.

Rest allows us to:

- Hear God’s guidance more clearly

- Avoid striving in our own strength

- Prepare for the harvest that follows seasons of labor

We share in the episode how stepping back, being still, and trusting God in our work, parenting, and faith allowed Him to do what only He can do, and it can do the same for you.

What to Take Away

If you’re walking into 2026 feeling unprepared, overwhelmed, or uncertain, here’s what we want you to hear:

1. Preparation is a gift, not a setback. The hard work, trials, and lessons of 2025 were setting the stage for a fruitful year ahead.

2. Parenting is intentional. The time, tools, and love you invest now will echo for generations.

3. Rest is powerful. Surrender, trust, and quiet moments with God are essential to hear His voice and multiply your impact.
